Nature: Magical alloy
Forging Recipe: The Riders of Pegasus, Volume III
Info: The following is Skadi's translation of the Book, pages 147 & 148:

CAVORITE: Only a mage who is both a master of matter and a disciple of forces can forge this. Deep within the Mysterium vaults of South Africa there are stored certain rotes and samples of metal which have were recovered from what is believed to be a crash site which occurred in 1908. The crates are labelled as being remnants from a spaceship designed by sir James Owsley-Palmer. Though not nearly enough shrapnel remained to reconstruct the ship's design, and since the Bellerophon Society was more tight-lipped and secretive in this area than the Guardians of the Veil and the Seers put together, the only useful information the mystagogues gleaned from the find was the recipes for cavorite and apergium. Cavorite is forged by combining aluminium with Khronicum, the result of which is portrayed in popular culture. Unlike many other magical alloys it is workable, and is often beaten into a foil which is used to coat objects.

The rather interesting property of cavorite is that it shields against gravity, lessening its effects. Between normal object the gravity is too small for this to be noticed by humans, but between Earth and an object the reduction in gravitational pull is phenomenal. It has been theorized by modern physicist(s?) that cavorite absorbs the gravitons, converting them to the light which is emitted. In practical terms, anything shielded from the Earth by the alloy has its effective weight reduced by 10 percent per point of potency on the forging spell. Yet { Lemurian: oh god the worst dejah vu ever } even the most potent of castings cannot do more than void gravity. The metal still possesses limitless potential, but the information is considered extremely classified by the Mysterium, who fear repercussions if knowledge of how to make the stuff were ever to become public. For example, coating a huge balloon with cavorite would make the air inside much lighter than the rest of the atmosphere, providing "lift" without using energy to heat the air. Any aerial device would save huge amounts of fuel by utilizing, making possible many endeavors that would otherwise be beyond possibility. As long as disbelief doesn't get a chance to strike first of course.
